Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what the Press Blocks app collects, how its leaderboard, achievements, ads and in-app purchases work, and the choices and rights you have. We wrote it in plain English. If anything is unclear, ask us.

The short version

  • No accounts. Your settings stay on your phone.
  • Your Daily Edition and Endless results (the moves you played and your score) are sent to our leaderboard server so we can check them and count them, under a random player ID. You can turn this off in Settings.
  • You appear on the public leaderboard only if you pick a printer name. A Game Center or Play Games picture is shown only if you turn that on.
  • “Delete my leaderboard data” in Settings erases what our server holds about you.
  • The app shows family-friendly Google ads, non-personalized unless you opt in, with Google’s consent message where the law requires one.
  • Optional purchases (extra themes and Remove Ads) are paid through the App Store or Google Play. We never receive your payment card details.
  • We never sell your personal information.
  • Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored on your phone.

1.Who we are

Press Blocks is a daily block puzzle for iOS and Android, developed by CLEARLYlogic and published by Legendre Media Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Legendre Media,” “we,” “us”). This policy covers the Press Blocks apps. Our other apps and websites have their own policies.

For people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Legendre Media Inc. is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at privacy@64sq.cc or by mail at Legendre Media Inc., 8 The Green #22878, Dover, DE 19901, United States.

2.What we collect

Press Blocks has no accounts. We do not collect your email address, contacts, location or real name, and the app contains no analytics or tracking software of our own. The only server of ours the app talks to is the leaderboard server, described in Leaderboard and achievements.

Kept on your device

  • Your games: scores, streaks, records and which Daily Editions you have played.
  • Your settings: theme, sound, haptics, edition style, and whether you have seen the how-to-play guide.
  • Your daily reminder choice and time, if you turn reminders on.
  • Which themes you own and whether you bought Remove Ads.

This stays in the app’s storage on your phone (SharedPreferences on Android, the app’s preferences on iOS). We never receive it, apart from the game results described in the next section. Uninstalling the app deletes it. Your phone’s own backup (iCloud or Google) may include it under Apple’s or Google’s terms.

Daily reminders

Reminders are off until you turn them on, and the system asks for your permission first. They are scheduled on your phone itself; we don’t run a notification server and don’t receive a notification token.

Sharing your front page

The front page card is drawn on your phone. It is sent only where you choose, through your phone’s share sheet, and it doesn’t pass through us.

3.Leaderboard and achievements

Press Blocks has a cross-platform Daily Edition leaderboard (today’s edition, all-time best and longest streaks), shown in the app and at pressblocks.app/leaderboard, and achievements in Game Center (iOS) and Google Play Games (Android). To keep the leaderboard fair, our server replays every game move by move and works out the score itself.

What the leaderboard server receives

  • A random player ID and an install key. The app makes these up when it first talks to the server. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the key. They are not linked to your name, email or phone number.
  • Your game results. For each finished Daily Edition and Endless game: the list of moves you made, the score, and the edition number. We use them to check the score, rank it, tell you how many printers you out-printed, keep your streak, and decide achievements.
  • Your printer name and mark, if you pick them. Names must be unique, and a name once claimed is never given to anyone else.
  • Your Game Center or Play Games player ID, only after the app has proven it with Apple or Google. We use it for one thing: so you can recover your printer name and streak on a new phone. It is never shown to anyone. We do not receive your Apple or Google account email.
  • Your Game Center or Play Games picture, only if you turn on “Show my picture on the leaderboard” (off unless you turn it on). See below.
  • Platform (iOS or Android) and, in our web server logs, your IP address, kept for up to 14 days for security and rate limiting.

What is public

If you pick a printer name, the boards show your name, your mark, your score, lines and streaks, and your picture if you turned it on and it passed our safety check. If you never pick a name, your results still count toward each edition’s player count and percentages, but nothing about you is listed. Move lists, player IDs and Game Center or Play Games IDs are never public.

Pictures

Showing your picture is off unless you turn it on. When you do, the app sends us your Game Center or Play Games picture. Our server resizes it and runs an automatic safety check on our own server (no outside service sees it); a picture that fails the check is not stored or shown. The option is not offered to Game Center accounts that Apple identifies as belonging to a child. Turning it off deletes the picture from our server, and it disappears from the app and the website.

Achievements

Achievements that depend on your games, such as streaks and scores, are decided by our server from your checked results. The app then reports them to Game Center or Play Games, which keep them under Apple’s or Google’s terms. Owning every theme is decided on your phone from your purchases. Game Center and Play Games sign-in is handled by Apple and Google.

Where it is kept and for how long

The leaderboard server runs on servers we rent from Hetzner Online in Germany (Nuremberg and Falkenstein), and connections to it are encrypted (HTTPS). We keep leaderboard data until you delete it, or until 24 months after the last time your app talked to the server, whichever comes first. Deleted data leaves the live database right away. Our database backups are kept on the same access-restricted server, and a backup that still holds deleted data ages out within 8 weeks (we keep 14 daily and 8 weekly backups). Pictures are never included in backups.

Your choices

  • Turn it off. In Settings, turn off “Count my games on the leaderboard” and the app stops sending your games.
  • Delete it. In Settings, “Delete my leaderboard data” erases everything our server holds about you: your results and move lists, name and mark, picture, Game Center or Play Games ID and install key. The one thing we keep is a retired, unlinked copy of your printer name’s spelling, so no one else can take that name later. You can also email privacy@64sq.cc from any device and we will delete it for you.

We do not use leaderboard data for ads or analytics, and we never sell or share it.

4.Ads

Press Blocks is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. Some ads are videos you choose to watch, for example for a hint; others are full-screen ads shown by the app.

Consent message. We use Google’s User Messaging Platform. Where the law requires it (such as in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws), it shows Google’s privacy message and records your choices before any ad loads. Where those rules apply to you, you can change your choices at any time in the app under Settings, then “Privacy settings.”

Non-personalized by default. Every ad request asks for non-personalized ads unless your choices in that message allow personalized ads, or, on iOS where no message applies, you have allowed tracking. Non-personalized ads are based on context, such as the app, rather than your history.

Family-friendly. We limit all ads to Google’s “G” (general audiences) content rating.

iOS tracking (ATT). After any consent message, iOS may ask whether Press Blocks can track you across other companies’ apps and websites. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track,” the app never gets your advertising identifier (IDFA). You can change this any time in iOS Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking.

Android. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings, under Privacy, then Ads.

Remove Ads. If you buy Remove Ads, the app stops showing the full-screen ads it shows on its own. Ads you choose to watch, for a hint or a second printing, stay available and remain your choice.

Even for non-personalized ads, Google’s software uses device information (such as your IP address, device type, and, where you allow it, your advertising ID) to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ads in aggregate, and detect fraud. Google handles that information under its own policies; see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. We receive only aggregate ad reports from Google, never information about you.

5.In-app purchases

Press Blocks sells optional one-time purchases: extra themes (Sepia, Broadsheet and Gold Leaf, singly or as an All Themes bundle) and Remove Ads. Each is a non-consumable purchase: you buy it once and keep it.

  • Who processes payment. Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) handles every purchase and payment, under its own terms and privacy policy. Your payment card number, billing address and store account password go to Apple or Google, never to us, and we never receive them.
  • What the app keeps. When a purchase completes, the store tells the app what you own. The app remembers it on your device so your themes and Remove Ads work offline.
  • Restoring. On a new or reset device, the app can ask the store to restore your purchases. That request goes from your phone to Apple or Google and doesn’t pass through us.
  • What we receive. Apple and Google give us sales and order reports (for example the item, price, country and date) so we can account for sales, handle refunds and meet tax obligations. These reports do not include your payment card details, and we do not use them to identify you or to target ads.

Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its own policy.

6.Crash reports

If you have turned on sharing of diagnostics with app developers in your phone’s settings, Apple or Google may send us anonymous crash reports and app performance data. We use them only to fix problems. You can turn this off in your phone’s privacy settings.

7.Who we share it with

We do not sell or share personal information. The leaderboard data described above stays with us; the only part anyone else sees is what the public boards show. Our hosting provider, Hetzner Online, stores it on our behalf and may not use it for anything else. The outside companies the app sends information to are Google, for ads, as described above; Apple or Google when you make or restore a purchase through their stores; and Game Center or Play Games for your achievements.

8.Children

Press Blocks is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. It has no accounts, chat or ways to contact other players. Printer names are checked against a list of offensive words and names that pretend to be us, and pictures can’t be turned on for Game Center accounts that Apple identifies as belonging to a child. All ads are limited to general-audience content and are non-personalized unless someone opts in as described above. Purchases go through Apple’s and Google’s own family controls, such as Ask to Buy and purchase approvals. If you believe a child’s information has reached us, email privacy@64sq.cc and we will help.

9.Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, or a US state with a consumer privacy law), you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. The game data on your phone is under your control: uninstalling the app deletes it. Leaderboard data on our server can be deleted at any time with “Delete my leaderboard data” in Settings.

For ads, use “Privacy settings” in the app (where it appears), iOS tracking settings, or your Android advertising ID settings. For anything else, email privacy@64sq.cc. We answer within 30 days, or sooner if your local law requires, and these requests are free. We will never treat you differently for using your rights. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and you can complain to your local data protection authority or state attorney general.

10.International transfers

Legendre Media Inc. is based in the United States. The leaderboard server is in Germany. Google and Apple may process information in the United States and other countries. For transfers from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK and Swiss equivalents) or its certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

11.Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change materially affects how information is used, we will give notice in the app before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
